Seagull Cove Lodge
Seagull Cove in Boca Chica is a gorgeous, well run small boutique resort on the Pacific ocean in Boca Chica. If you are going to spend some time in Boca Chica, you should definitely think of staying here. No pets or children.

Ciudad de David
This is a new hotel in the city of David, open since the beginning of 2010. The Cuidad de David is the best hotel in the area, with rooms costing in the vicinity of $100 per night, depending on the season. It is clean and modern with a good restaurant and friendly staff, centrally located in the middle of town.

Puerta del Sol
The Puerta is also located in the center of David, and is clean and quiet, with a decent restaurant and nice staff. While the Ciudad de David is comparatively expensive, though good value, the Puerta is priced at about $40 per night, so if you want to save money, the Puerta is your best bet.

Restaurants

The best restaurants in David are Mosto Bistro and the Stylo Resto-Bar in the Hotel Ciudad de David, both downtown. The barbeque restaurant in the Hotel Gran National is also good.

In Volcan, you should try Cero Brujo, where Patricia concocts some remarkable food inventions.

In Boquete, try Bistro Boquete and Tammy's Cafe -- the former a casual dining establishment with good sandwiches and ribs, the latter an excellent Middle Eastern restaurant with the best falafel and shawarma I have had in Panama.

Air Lines

There are two airlines in Panama. For reasons that make sense to no one but themselves, they both fly to nearly identical locations at nearly identical times. Go figure. Both have frequent daily flights between David and Panama City, where you can connect to North and South America and Europe. Air Panama also has flights three days a week from David to San Jose, Costa Rica; however, this is less convenient than you may think, since the flights typically arrive too late to catch connecting flights.
